Vision & Mission

The Alliance for Healthy Cities certification was promoted by the World Health Organization. The World Health Organization sets a framework for supporting the Alliance for Healthy Cities where the partners will work collaboratively on themes relating to involvement, connection, commitment and equity in health to create and improve physical and social environments for health.

According to the “Building Healthy Cities - Guidelines for implementing a Helathy Cities Project in Hong Kong” published by Department of Health, the definition of Healthy City was defined by Hancock and Duhl, two founders of the Healthy Cities project,

“a Healthy City is one that is continually creating and improving those physical and social environments and expanding those community resources which enable people to mutually support each other in performing all the functions of life and in developing to their maximum potential.”
